Summer Youth Employment Program


Looking for a summer job? Flint & Genesee Education & Talent is looking to hire Flint teens, ages 16-19, for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Summer Youth Employment Program (MDNR SYEP). The program is a change to get outdoors, build job skills, and enjoy fun activities like kayaking, rock wall climbing, and ziplining!

Interviews are happening now and paid orientation begins in June!

Requirements to Apply:

  • Youth must be 16-19 on or before June 15, 2024 – no exceptions
  • Live within the City of Flint
  • Be physically able to perform the work
  • Must be able to lift at least 25-50lbs
  • Be able to work at least 24 hours a week through August 6, 2024
YouthQuest middle and high school students attend the YQ Biz ‘Hustle Hard’ Final Pitch Competition. Students celebrated the end of the 2021-22 school year and participated in one last pitch competition. The winner attended a major youth entrepreneur event in New York City.

Work Includes:

  • Urban gardening
  • Landscaping
  • Lawn maintenance
  • Blight elimination
  • Parks maintenance
