The end of the school year is nearing and for those who are planning to attend college in the fall, scholarship deadlines are fast approaching. According to Rhetta Hunyady, vice president of Education & Training at the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce, there are scholarships available for every type of student with every type of interest.
“Scholarships can vary based on where a student lives, their intended career pathway, or what sports they play,” said Hunyady. “With the breadth of scholarships out there, most students can find one that fits them.”
Here are some examples of scholarships that may be specific to you:
You can find a full listing of scholarships in Flint & Genesee on the Community Foundation of Greater Flint’s website. There you can fill out an application to identify which scholarship you are eligible for and apply for more than one scholarship at the same time.
Additionally, if you are a student living in Flint and attending a Flint school, you may be eligible for the Flint Promise scholarship. The scholarship covers up to 100 percent of the cost of a student’s tuition after federal grants and other scholarships have been applied at participating colleges.
Enrollment is now open for the Flint Promise. For more information, go to theflintpromise.org.
