In December, YouthQuest students are studying key academic concepts – but in fun and unique ways. With the theme of Game Shows, students are playing games based on popular TV game shows that will reinforce lessons taught during the school day.
“We want to make sure we are extending what students learn during the day,” says Cheryl Adkins, program director for YouthQuest. “For example, with games like ‘Add a Letter,’ students are able to practice their spelling while having fun.”
Parents can extend learning at home by scheduling family activities including Family Game Night. Playing different board games including “The Game of Life” helps children learn a variety of lessons while spending time with family. Scheduled family time also helps develop strong bonds that can last a lifetime.
YouthQuest is made possible through the generous support of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
