YouthQuest Highlights: March 2018

HALF THE DAY, TWICE THE FUN

A half day didn’t stop YouthQuest students at Dye Elementary from carrying out programing. During the extended day of programming, students could participate in a variety of stations set up around the school. Stations included an art station that taught students different art techniques and a reptile table brought in from For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum.

FOLLOW THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD

Students in Performance Club at Bentley Elementary followed the yellow brick road in their production of “The Wizard of Oz.” They learned lines, designed costumes and built set, then performed the play in front of parents at a family night organized by the youth advisory council.

STEP INTO OUR SHOES

To encourage youth development and leadership, learning guides at Doyle Ryder Elementary asked students to create their own lesson plans for art projects. After students planned the lessons and made supply lists, they executed their plans. This allowed students to step into the shoes of the learning guides.

A LUCKY NIGHT

Brownell STEM Academy students hosted a St. Patrick’s Day themed family night. The event included lucky bingo, four leaf clover tree crafts, fun with Play-Doh, root beer floats and more. At the end of the night, students received St. Patrick’s Day awards based on their personality such as the Laffy Taffy award or the Lifesaver award.
